Honduras

This post is way too long overdue!! Kristin and I came back from Honduras this past March for the first time on a mission trip together as husband and wife! I was so excited to go on a mission trip with my new bride and what made it even more exciting was that the mission trip was with Living Water Int’l.  I its one of the coolest non-profits I know of and it’s an honor to have the pleasure of shoot for. I was so blessed to be able to join two trips ( 1 2 ) last year down to Honduras that I just couldn’t resist bringing Kris to experience the Honduran love. The people are so incredible. Hearts filled with joy, faces full of smiles and kids bursting with laughter! Every where we went it seemed like we always had about 100 incredibly eager kids to run around and play games with. This is quite a task trying to keep all the kids entertained, constructing a water well, all while enduring the 100 degree blazing hot summer sun. Not to mention the constant 100% humidity.. Literally 100%.. But the funny thing is.. you can’t seem to stop. No matter how hot or tired you may be, you see the excitement in the kids faces just begging for more, you can’t help but play another 20 games of soccer or keep-away!

The other really awesome key factor of this trip was that we were actually able to sponsor the new well we were building. We donate 10% of our packages back to charity and give our clients a few options of which charity they would like to support. Enough of our clients chose Living Water that together, we were able to fund the entire construction of this well!! So I just wanted to give a special thank you to all our amazing clients! And to all who chose to support Living Water.. these pictures are for you!! Most importantly we want to thank God for allowing us to partake in such an awesome opportunity and to be able to impact so many peoples lives.  We know that the construction and all the success this well is all because of Him! We were so humbled and thankful to be a part of it.

All the community members gather at a local river to do their laundry. The problem is that often times it is the same stream that people are getting their drinking water from. This is the case when you have no other option, hence a large necessity for clean drinking water from the water wells we drill.

I love how they use the rock as a wash board.. it was really cool to watch..

One of the things that I love about the trips is that there is an opportunity to teach hygiene classes at the local school. We were able to help teach the kids how to keep the well clean as well as their own bodies. We taught them how to wash their hands and how it helps to prevent illnesses which can allow them to be in school more days out of the year.

The plaque reads: “this well is donated by: Brandon Kidd Photography, USA. Made by Living Water International. John 4:13-14 which reads “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. ”

These are always my favorite shots of the trip!

At our wedding Kristin and I had our guests write an encouraging note to all the well recipients. Here are some pictures of us distributing them to the best of our abilities :) Some of them where in Spanish, and I had the opportunity to translate the ones in English as well.

Here is a picture with about half of the kids that attended this little school you can see in the background.. Only two classrooms for about 80-90 students all ranging in various ages.

Its so hard to explain a whole trip like this with just a few photos but I hope you all got a feel for what its like down there (and many areas in the world for that matter). It so cool to witness first hand the impact we can make in the world. If we all just gave back a tiny bit, think about how much impact we could make in other peoples lives. With the help of our amazing clients we were able to provide all these kids with clean and fresh drinking water. And not only them, but their parents, cousins, brothers and sisters, and all the rest of the surrounding communities. Since this well successfully produces water during dry season that we visited in, this well will essentially never run dry. Keeping these kids healthy and improving the quality and extending the length of their lives. We count it all joy that we were able to be apart of it!

Happy Easter!!

He is Risen! I hope all of you have a wonderful day with your families!! Lord Bless!

Break Free Ministry

A couple of weeks ago a few friends of mine asked me to do a photo shoot for their Break Crew. I was thrilled! I am fascinated with all the moves, technique, skill and strength required to pull off such acrobats. What made me even more stoked was that this crew is apart of the Break Free Ministry. Break Free is a ministry centered around the Gospel of Jesus Christ in attempts to reach various people in the hip hop/breaking communities through the use of dancing and other artistic outreaches. The name derives from Galatians 5:1 that says “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. ” Bringing to light that with Christ, and Christ alone, you can “Break Free” from the pain and consequences of sin. How awesome is that!

I just wanted to give a little shout out to   Josh, Swalley, Tim, Vince, Emily and liz for doing such a great job showing off your moves! You guys rocked it! Enjoy!

Back to Honduras!

Well home was fun.. for the day we had to do laundry the head back out :) We had a blast in Texas with Julie and Jason’s wedding this past week and now we are off to Honduras. I went twice last year with Living Water Int’l and it was incredible. This year I am even more excited in two ways. First I am super excited because this is mine and Kristin’s first time going on a mission trip together as husband and wife! I am SOOO thrilled I cant wait! Secondly we were so blessed to be able to raise enough money last year to actually sponsor the construction of a brand new water well this year. Praise the Lord! We are so thrilled that we are able to be apart of this whole thing and bring back pictures to share with all you back home! Thank you to all our clients who choose to give their portion of the wedding collection back to charity and more specifically Living Water. To read more about our vision please check it out HERE!

St. Lucia {Unforgettable Honemoons}

This post is just a special thank you to our wonderful travel agent Renee Meyer from Unforgettable Honeymoons and for all those people who inquired about our honeymoon asking where we went and wanting to see the pictures. We seriously had the best honeymoon ever! We headed to the tropical Caribbean island of St. Lucia. The place we stayed at had one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my entire life.. and it was right from our open aired suite.. The view below was our spectacular view every single day and we never even had to leave the room!!  Talk about secluded this place was incredible.. In fact I think that we only left our room to get food.. and even then they brought it to us.. We were super lazy after all the craziness from the big day we just wanted to relax and unwind..  I couldn’t have even dreamed of a better place to do this at!! I dont know what was the coolest part.. the view.. the room.. the privacy, your own plunge pool.. we seriously had no reason to leave. It was exactly what we were looking for. Here are just a few pics of the resort we stayed at.. If you have any questions you can contact Renee as she would be more than happy to give you all the little details of this place :)

a little breakfast sitting area

fresh tea and coffee served whenever we wanted plus all kinds of fun activities at our disposal..

What was really awesome about this place was that there were these hand carved sculptures and wood workings all over the place as well as filled up our entire room. Every room has its own personality and individual carvings.

a place just to hang out and enjoy the view of the pitons..

Here is the restaurant when we decided to not eat in our room.. honestly I think we only saw 4 different couples total the WHOLE time we were there..

here’s the view while eating..

If you didnt want to stay in your room then you could enjoy this patio next to the restaurant for some local tunes and the infiniti pool.

Here are pictures of the rooms.. each room is like your very own tree house and extend out into the tree canopy..

The inside..

our own pool and lounge chairs with the amazing view as well.

Another little sitting area to watch the sunset and the moonrise :) You can see though that the whole suite is totally open to the suroundings..

Honestly I would go back there in a heartbeat.. I cant wait actually we both miss it so much! Beautiful weather all day and all night AND we didnt even see, let alone feel, a single bug the whole time.. to sum it all up in one word… Perfection!

Our Photo Booth!!

Today we want to give a HUGE shout out to Jillian and Tony Bisinger who rocked out the Zany Booth at our wedding!  These two have such fun and exciting personalities and really made our photo booth come to life. We got so many compliments on how super fun the booth was and even more how creative all the different ideas Tony and Jillian came up with! Take a look at some of the Zany-ness!! Also Tony and Jill were super duper sweet and a joy to work with.. They totally blessed our day by having them there to document such a fun part of our day! Thanks guys so much!! Also for staying all the way until the very end just to document our grand exit.. That was just way above and beyond what we expected and are forever grateful! Seriously.. totally blew us away!!

Jasmine Star and JD gettin’ down in the photo booth… Do I hear a BATTLE!!!
