Hey Guys! Here are some photos from our most recent trip to Texas documenting Ben and Libby’s wedding festivities. Meet Ben and Libby. Libby is a amazingly talented graphic designer out in Texas. You can check out some of her stuff here at Libby’s Love Letters. We had a weekend filled with fun activities. Engagement shoot, rehearsal dinner and of course the wedding day! In 100 degree weather and 90% humidity.. it was action packed to say the least! We first started out on Libby’s grandfather’s ranch just outside of Dallas/Fort Worth area to take some quick portraits before the rehearsal dinner. This place was BEAUTIFUL!! and HUGE!! Kristin and I couldn’t believe how awesome this place was. In fact the more and more we visit Texas the more we leave a piece of our hearts behind! We love it out there so much. I think mainly due to the hearts of everyone we have meet out there. Ben and Libby were beyond awesome to work for. Their hospitality was so sincere and generous, Kristin and I were really blessed by it. Ben and Libby are super fun and sweet, not to mention they photograph incredibly well, I cant wait to show you the other shoots! Keep in mind this is only post 1 of 3 so there is much more on the way!!Enjoy!!

I love these shots because both Ben and Libby’s last names are Smith.. Lucky for Libby she wont have to fill out all the extra paperwork and hassle with changing her last name!

David and Esther {Engaged}

Sweet, romantic, and humble. These are the words I would use to describe David and Esther. These two have such gentle and quiet spirits about them that you cant help but just adore being around them! During their dating years David and Esther would tell each other fairy tales and read each other stories to help the other person fall asleep at night. In fact David proposed by writing Esther a fairytale of his own..needless to say it worked! So they wanted to incorporate this into their engagement photos as well as their wedding day. I think these photos completely reflect their genuine personalities and the soft, romantic vibe they were going for. Although these two were incredibly nervous for the shoot, they were super modelesque all day and made for a great shoot! In fact there were so many great shots that this is only the second half of the shoot!! Too many to post Enjoy!!

Aaron and Trish {Engaged}

“Why would you want to take your engagement photos in a JUNK YARD”.. Aaron’s mom asked the week before our shoot. Trying to think of a fun and different place to take their engagement photos Aaron remembered that his uncle owned a junk yard out in El Mirage. Thinking that it could be a cool location for photos they proposed the idea to me.. I said…. umm…. YEAH!!! When they told me also that they had hired Shade Tree Films to shoot their Love Story the same day I was even more thrilled! Kristin and I were so pumped to get out there and start shooting.. The slight fatigue from the 2.5 hour drive quickly faded away as we pulled up to the property! Our mouths hit the floor when we saw this place! So..much…to….shoot…!! You could imagine that while shooting in a junk yard you would stumble across some pretty cool backgrounds…but full campers, plane engines, semi trucks, classic cars, oil tanks, and old torpedo shells from WWII… come on!! A photographer’s dream come true.. There was honestly so much to shoot we didn’t even cover a 1/4 of the property.. But here is some of the stuff Kristin and I got!!

That’s right they even had a Farris Wheel!!

Oh yeah not only was there a playground of props for us to use for the shoot.. there just so happen to be this totally awesome dry lake bed right next door!!

Apparently wind bugging is the thing to do out there.. Check out this guys tricks.. I think he wanted a little attention too..

Fonz and Melissa {Engaged}

Hey Guys!! Meet Fonz and Melissa! I had the pleasure of shooting these two near their home up in Pasadena at the Huntington Library. This was my first time to the library and I was super impressed. Its not what you typically think of a library.. in fact I don’t even know if there is a library there There is but this place is so big that we didn’t even see it! This place is beyond massive.. There are so many different places to shoot with a wide variety of scenery to choose from as you will see in these photos.. Fonz and Melissa have memberships to the library and visit there quite often. Walking, picnicking or enjoying the various concerts the library puts on in their botanical gardens, these two thought it would be the perfect place to take their engagement photos. Here are just a few of the shots from the day..

TJ and Megan {Engaged}

Last week I got to shoot Tj and Megan down in Newport Beach. We had so much fun walking in the back alleys and finding little nooks and cranny’s for places to shoot. The coolest part which I didn’t find out until almost at the end of the shoot was that we were taking pictures where TJ actually proposed to Megan. The funny part is that both TJ and Megan didn’t even realize it! There must have been a lot on their minds that day I think that it makes the photos that much cooler to know that this area played a special part of their engagement. Here are just a few of the fav’s from the day!

Eric and Thi {Engaged}

Meet Eric and Thi. These two are such a sweet pair. a caring kindergarten teacher and a brainiac with a big heart. Both of them equally shy in their own ways but always up for trying new things and traveling to new places. Good thing since a photo shoot with us is usually quite an adventure in itself Ever since we first met with them I knew they were going to be one of the nicest couples to work for! And we were right! Right when I got out of the car for the shoot, Thi made us a little goodie bag with all our favorite treats!! Sour Patch Kids…. Chipotle gift card!! NEED I SAY MORE!!! These two are some of the most thoughtful people ever! I couldn’t wait to get started with the day! Eric and Thi wanted a very soft and romantic setting. Simple, earthy, and bright. We are always up for shooting new places and was thrilled when we found this great setting right next to our studio in Anaheim Hills.

Brian and Stephanie {Engaged}

Today I have the privilege of introducing to you Brian and Stephanie! I had so much fun shooting these two. They are so full of life and also full of smiles. I dont think we went 10 feet without one of them laughing or smiling at the other! So much fun to be around and even more fun to shoot for. Stephanie had a whole bag of props she wanted to incorporate into the shoot and hand picked the best location ever! Once I started going through the bag I knew we were in for a great session!

Poor Brian got a back full of stickers for these shots but I assured him it would be totally worth it

All these next ones are my favorites! I loved the little picnic at dusk!

I loved these two so much.. They are totally the picture perfect “all-american” couple. I guess Brian being a marine helped support this feeling even more! Just wanted to give a little shout out to Brian and all our service men and women for serving our county and protecting all of us at home! We love you guys!

Sung and Carol {Engaged} UCLA

Meet Sung and Carol. Sweet. Gentle. Humble. These are the words I would use to describe them. They are so soft and respectful of each other. Truly a breathe of fresh air. Sung and Carol met at their church down in San Diego. The funny thing is that they both completed their undergrad at UCLA and never knew it. So they thought that it would be kind of fun and fitting to do their photos on campus! I was super excited because I had never been to UCLA and I always wanted to. There is so much diversity on campus. The beautiful trees, the architecture.. all the different building textures! Really beautiful! Here are some of the photos from the day!

Then we headed off to the library! These were some of my favorite ones of the day.. I could have just pictured them like this if they met a few years sooner..

Beautiful light matched by some truly beautiful people! Sung and Carol it was a ploeasure working for you guys on this shoot! We cant wait for the wedding!

Zach and Shawn {Engaged}

Happy Monday everybody!! Another beautiful sunny day here in Southern Cali. I was so excited to shoot Zach and Shawn down in Laguna ever since our first meeting. They were so fun, sweet and totally genuine. They have such a relaxed vibe that I wasn’t surprised at all when they said they wanted to take their engagement photos at the beach. And you can see why in these photos. I don’t recommend the beach for most of my clients. Other than the fact that most of our clients dont even go to the beach on a regular basis, the beach doesn’t even have a real important impact on their life. We recommend a location that will truly bring out the personalities of the couple so it all fits together. In this case the beach was a perfect place for these two. I think they fit so harmonious together in all these shots.

We had some amazing light all day long..

After wardrobe change number 2 we headed down to the beach again for some last minute sand pictures. The sun had already settled behind a huge marine layer and were loosing light fast. However I think it really help create some dramatic setting for these next few “romantic” photos. I think these are actually my favorite shots of the day..
