I bought 2 dairy goats today

All of you who know me know that I have a big heart for other people in impoverished nations that don’t have the most simple and basic necessities of life..  and not talking about the iphone with 100 apps on it.. Im talking about food, water, medicine.. even just warmth.. World Vision is one of my favorite non profit organizations because there are so many ways to give back for an area that you may be particularly interested in.. In fact there is so much need in the world that its almost impossible not to find an area which strikes a chord in your heart..

Why goats..?

Well I am glad you asked..

A healthy dairy goat can give up to 16 cups of milk a day. Goat milk is easier to digest than cow’s milk and is an excellent source of calcium, protein, and other essential nutrients that growing children need.  Goats can produce not only healthy milk but cheese, yogurt and other much needed dairy products.Since 16 cups a day is typically more than enough for the average family. A family would be able to sell/trade the additional milk for other food and needed materials and supplies. Goats are also a very practical animal and actually flourish in harsh climates while other animals might not survive of the scarce vegetation and produce valuable manure to fertilize crops and vegetable gardens.

Also the reason I bought 2 goats (1 male and 1 female) would allow for the opportunity to potentially sell the offspring and make additional money to help support the family financially. Equipping them with a stable source of nutrients and vitamins but also a source of income.. A great thing to do I think for a family in need.. Who knew that goats could be so valuable to a family. Another really awesome thing you can do is pick the region in which you want the contribution to go to. I just thought it was so cool that you could buy goats.. seriously though.. how cool is that!!

Shyam and Reena {Married}

A few weeks ago we headed down south to The Crossings at Carlsbad and shot the awesome Shyam and Reena! I knew it was going to be a great day because Meridith, Kristen and Sarah at the Crossings are A M A Z I N G to work with! I seriously LOVE every time we go down there because there are so many places to shoot as well as the service is outstanding! plus ridiculous mushroom ravioli!! SOO GOOD!  In addition to this it was going to be a traditional Indian wedding full of festivities all day long and ending the night with some incredible tunes and dancing! :) Some of my favorite! They got ready at the Sheraton across the street.. Here are some getting ready pics..

There is a price for fashion

I love the henna..

I love the processional of all of Shyam’s side to meet his bride and her family..

the ceremony site..

I love all the colors..

Part of the festivities the bridesmaids try to steel the grooms shoes.. if they are successful in stealing them during the ceremony then they are able to sell them back for big bucks..

Reena’s sister was a hard bargain and worked out quite a nice deal.. then after Shaym paid her she asked him how much the other shoe was worth.. Smart thinking… :)

Then one of my favorite parts of the night.. the dancing music.. I dont ever really get a chance to go out on the dancefloor.. but I think Kristin catches me quite a bit.. you got to get out there to get the shots right… right.. :)

It was such an awesome day.. only about 100 degrees or so for a several hour outdoor ceremony but it was totally worth it!! We got some killer stuff and will be so excited for my next Indian wedding :)

Presley Coogan

Last Tuesday I had the honor of capturing one of Presley Coogans first appearance into the world. She was born on October 6th at 1:17 pm weighing in at almost 9 lbs.. Poor Kate.. You actually already met baby Presley about a month ago.. however she was still in her mamas tummy at that point..  if you scroll down to one of my past posts you will see the awesome maternity shoot we had!!  Also like I said in that post this is a whole new world for me.. This is the first time any one of my fiends or relatives or anyone remotely close to me has been pregnant and now successfully had a baby.. I was thrilled at the opportunity to document one of Gods coolest blessings He allows us to partake in…creation.. Such an incredible thing.

Honestly it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.. and it happens everyday.. its soo cool.. Anyways im sorry… I am totally new to this whole thing.. here are some photos of the new happy family a couple days after the surgery.

The Coogan Family..

such a cute little babaayy…

The new G ma..

Gramps… :) I love that word..

Presely kickin’ it with mama..

I mean how cute is this baby..

and after a long little photo shoot I think we tired baby Presley out.. It tough work being a model.. all of you who I have shot can attest :)

I am so thankful to be apart of this little ones first couple of days here on the planet… I LOVE that photography has the ability to freeze a moment in time and that they will have these photos to look back on and relive the memories captured that day.. I seriously have the best job in the whole world for sure!! Thanks Todd and Kate for letting me be apart of your special moments!

The Knot TV

Yesterday I got a call from THE KNOT magazine asking if they could use some of my images for their new live television show that showcases hip new vendors as well as fresh and fun ideas for the original bride.

I was totally thrilled to be on the show and having them use my images to represent what they feel is currently the freshest in the industry.. I was thrilled.. I missed the show… but I was thrilled none the less :) something about staying up the crack of dawn editing all night might have had something to do with it..But Im sure it was great! Thanks KNOT for taking the time to contact me and use my stuff! What an honor!!! Ill be sure to try to find a rerun of it.. if you do that.. :)

Beach Wedding at St. Regis

So a couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot a cute intimate little beach ceremony and reception at the  St Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, CA. Both Rob and Sharyl wanted to have a laid back, calm and relaxing beach wedding with a little Tommy Bahama vibe to it.. This was definitely the theme for the day.. When Kristin and I got there every one was all dressed super relaxed and casual.. probably all mostly wearing Tommy Bahama. In fact everybody there kind of already had a calm and collected presence about them.. very refreshing contrast from the normal crazy and chaotic first impression we usually stumble into when everybody is getting ready for the big day :) It helps that the bridal party just consisted of Sharyl’s sister and Rob’s Dad and brothers.. It really sets the tone for the day.. Also it helps having an awesome coordinator who helps keep the vibe going.. Laurie Davies from Five Star Weddings did an awesome job coordinating the days events and was such a pleasure to work with!

Here are some shots from the day… I think you can really “feel” how tranquil the day really was..

Flowers by Fantasy Florists

I love this little guys posing it up like the big dogs..

There was an opportunity for everyone to just hang out before the ceremony at a little spot over looking the beach.. super fun place to just mellow out and check out the beautiful surroundings.. even drink some fresh lemondade :)

I love the intimate little beach ceremony set for about 30 people..

Rob’s brother is a professional mucisian and was playing a little jack for the ceremony..

The first look..

it was an awesome little ceremony with even more awesome light!!

I love the drift wood in these shots!! seriously we couldn’t have asked for better light for the theme we were shooting!! It was perfect!!

Then off to the reception for a little fun!

His and Her cakes since Rob doesnt eat cake they made one out of watermellon…

We had a great time and think the photos represent the couple perfectly and are very pleased with how they came out!! I cant wait to start making the album from this wedding!! Soo many more awesome photos then just the ones posted!!

Twitter..

Ok .. well I never thought of the day that I as actually going to say this.. it was probably after dealing with the excruciating public humiliation and agonizing guilt that was instilled in me countless times at Jessica Claire’s workshop.. “Brandon… your not on facebook!!!” still haunts me in my sleep.. “seriously”..a wisper in the back.. “really not on twitter or facebook” other people echoed.   ” I cant believe YOU dont have facebook or twitter”  from everyone at the poker table that next night over at beckers house.. soo… after 2 complete days of harassment…. I caved in.. yours truly starting tweeting as it were called as of 3 days ago… And facebook is on its way shortly..

Here is  a screenshot of my twitter:

So for all of you who want to know EXACTLY what I am doing ALL the time then you can check out my twitter at THEPHOTOKIDD… thanks…
